Renault Trucks: 100% of its French industrial sites certified “Landfill Free”
Renault Trucks continues to implement its environmental strategy. All of its industrial sites in France are now certified “Landfill Free”. This internal label, awarded by the Volvo Group, recognises facilities that send no operational waste to landfill, reflecting industrial practices focused on recycling and the systematic recovery of waste.
The four Renault Trucks plants – Blainville-sur-Orne, Bourg-en-Bresse, Lyon and Limoges* – have now achieved “Landfill Free” certification. This milestone highlights a profound transformation in industrial practices, particularly in waste management and traceability.
This certification helps reduce the environmental impact of industrial activities. Beyond eliminating landfill, it is based on structured, long-term programmes for waste reduction, reuse and recycling, deployed across all industrial sites.
From an economic perspective, the “Landfill Free” approach also improves operational performance by optimising waste flows and reducing costs associated with improper waste treatment. At the heart of this approach are practical actions embedded in day-to-day operations, such as sorting waste at source, reducing packaging and developing dedicated recovery channels.
In 2025, Renault Trucks reports tangible results stemming from this approach:
- 95% of operational waste is now recycled or recovered,
- 16 000 t of metal offcuts were reused in truck production,
- 70% of the 13,300 tonnes of waste generated by production is recycled, and 19% is recovered for energy,
- at Blainville-sur-Orne, waste volumes have been halved over the past twenty years.
This certification, awarded by the Volvo Group, reflects a clear ambition: to design sustainable transport solutions supported by exemplary industrial practices. “Landfill Free” status is based on strict criteria:
- no landfill over a continuous period,
- less than 1% residual waste sent to landfill after recycling,
- full traceability of waste streams,
- regular audits to ensure compliance with approved treatment channels.
* The remanufacturing plant in Limoges benefits from an exemption for waste containing refractory ceramic fibres, for which no recycling solution currently exists.
