UN World Food Programme PARTNERSHIP

Since 2012, Renault Trucks has been sending employee volunteers on mission to Africa to share their skills by conducting trainings for the local employees of the World Food Programme.

World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Trucks are key to its logistics system, bringing food under extreme conditions as close as possible to people in emergency situations. The agency’s locally recruited staff sometimes lacks the necessary skills to ensure a proper maintenance of vehicles which is however essential to carry out its mission successfully.

The expertise and commitment of Renault Trucks employees has already enabled WFP to gain efficiency and autonomy. Since the beginning of the partnership, the agency reports a significant reduction in its maintenance costs and a decrease of turnover among its employees who benefited from the trainings.

The training program provided has gradually been enriched over the years with the aim of adapting to the issues encountered in the field by WFP. Two trucks converted into mobile training units were deployed respectively in East Africa (Uganda) and West Africa (Ghana) to facilitate the implementation of the training sessions.
