One million trucks: Renault Trucks marks a major milestone with TJA – Transportes J. Amaral
In April 2025, in Estarreja, Portugal, three generations of one family gathered around a very special Renault Trucks T. João Pinto Amaral, founder of TJA – Transportes J. Amaral, his son João Manuel, and his grandson João Miguel received the keys to the one-millionth truck assembled at the Renault Trucks plant in Bourg-en-Bresse. This highly symbolic moment celebrates 60 years of industrial expertise and production at the site.

The handover of this truck to TJA – Transportes J. Amaral also highlights a long-standing relationship of trust between the Portuguese family-owned company and the diamond brand. “This is a unique, historic moment. Receiving the one-millionth truck is also a way of recognising the journey we’ve shared with a brand that has always contributed to our performance and reliability” said João Pinto Amaral, founder of TJA.

Over the years, TJA – Transportes J. Amaral has acquired 3,000 Renault Trucks vehicles, nearly 1,000 of which were delivered by Nors, the brand’s official importer and distributor in Portugal since 2016. For Nuno Guimarães, President of Nors Trucks and Buses Portugal RT, the relationship with TJA “goes far beyond supplying vehicles. We work hand in hand to provide integrated solutions.”
The event took place at TJA’s site in Estarreja and featured a symbolic gesture: the delivery of a specially customised truck, a tribute from Nors to its customer. The ceremony brought together representatives from Nors, TJA, Renault Trucks, and Renault Trucks Financial Services, who supported the financing of the vehicle.
A factory looking to the future
Since 1964, when it was founded, the Renault Trucks plant in Bourg-en-Bresse has built some of the brand’s most iconic models – from the Berliet GBC to the Renault Trucks T, C and K, including the legendary Renault Magnum.
Today, the plant is undergoing a major transformation with the growing production of the fully electric Renault Trucks E-Tech T and C models.
The delivery of this one-millionth vehicle represents both an industrial legacy and a strong commitment to the future.
